Tortured, Beaten, Segun Adekoya Sues Police for N300m

The Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Ikeja branch, and counsel representing Mr. Segun Adekoya, who was beaten and tortured by the Police over an unproven allegation, Mr. Adesina Ogunlana, has said that his client has sued the Police  for N300 million.

Mr. Ogunlana made the remark while addressing the press at the Ikeja NBA secretariat on the forthcoming 14th edition of the Annual Gani Fawehinmi Lecture, billed for Airport Hotel on Monday January 16, 2018.

It would be recalled that late last year, Mr Segun Adekoya, Personal Assistant to the former Executive Chairman of Amuwo Local Government Area, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, was picked up by the Police on an allegation that he sponsored the murder of one Onwa in FESTAC.

While forcefully trying to get Mr. Adekoya to agree to some alleged crime, the Police unleashed ‘terror’ on him, and detained him for six days without allowing anyone access to him.

In his narration of his ordeal with the Police, Segun declared that he could hardly make use of one of his ears as a result of the torture he received.

It was not stated yet when the first hearing will come up.
