It was a field day for all forms of scavengers locally called ‘Kaya’ at the Alade Market today as they, in various forms took over the market, grabbing and cutting every available material. They made brisk business from the sales of the metallic materials.

The scavengers were not the only ones as touts joined in the free for all grabbing of whatever was available, mostly from shops of those who could not move their property before the demolition.

It will be recalled that the Lagos State government has taken over the popular market located at Allen Roundabout, Ikeja after the expiration of a deadline given to market men and women therein to vacate to a new location at Awolowo Way.

The Lagos state government has not looked back on its decision to relocate the market. The traders and sellers at the market have been told to relocate to the new Alade market at and has got the whole Alade market locked and made people restricted from going in and out of the market.

The Boss Correspondent reports that the market has been finally brought down by the officials of the Lagos State government, and what is left of the once busy market are just rubbles of demolished shops and stalls, wasted goods of those that have not moved, destroyed property and furniture among other vandalized buildings.
