Queen of England gives personal donation to Earthquake victims in Italy

As donations continue to pour in from around the world, the Queen of England also muscled in on the action, yesterday, to make a personal donation to the search and rescue operation in Italy after a 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit on Wednesday, leaving at least 267 dead and hundreds injured.

The Queen gave an unspecified amount to the British Red Cross, whilst sending a message of condolence to the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, which was captured on the royal family’s website and Twitter account.

The message read: “Prince Philip and I were saddened to hear of the loss of life following the earthquake in central Italy.”
