Protesting women storm EFCC, demand unfreeze of Patience Jonathan’s accounts

As a follow up to yesterday’s protest at the Lagos State Federal High Court, another group of women stormed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to unfreeze the bank accounts of wife of the immediate past First Lady, Mrs Patience Jonathan.

The EFCC had earlier ordered a freeze of the former First lady’s Bank accounts due to its ongoing investigation of alleged money laundering.

EFCC had also confirmed that Mrs Jonathan is beinginvestigated for money laundering,  though no case has been instituted against her in any court yet.

But at today’s protest, the women decked in black attire took over the agency’s office in old GRA Port Harcourt, Rivers State, demanding the unfreezing of Mrs Jonathan’s account so she would be able to attend to her failing health.

The women who came under the aegis of Voice of Niger Delta Women, VONDW, brandished placards with various inscriptions, and condemning the anti-graft agency’s action.
