The Police on Tuesday arrested four persons suspected to be members of a militant group responsible for the savage attacks on Ogun communities.
Several people have been killed in the attacks on communities, while a police corporal was abducted recently by gunmen suspected to be militants.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, who paraded the suspects, gave their names as Ifeanyi Eze, Aijoku Ezekiel, Shobijo Uriel, and another identified as Pere.
Ali said the quartet were members of the suspected Niger Delta militants that attacked a team of Police Mobile Force and Operatives of the Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS) in Ikorodu and Ibafo some weeks back.
He noted that during the attack, a police corporal attached to the Ibafo Divisional Police Headquarters, Ogun State, was abducted with his AK – 47 riffle.
He said the policeman has not been found.
The police commissioner recalled that suspected militants recently attacked over five communities in Ogun – Arepo, Warewa, Imushin, Igbo – Elepete and Ajegunle in Ogijo/Sagamu and Ibafo area, saying the suspects had made useful statements to the police.
