Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State on Wednesday attributed the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to God’s punishment of the party for allegedly destructing the country.
Noting that thieves who brought Nigeria to its knees were now on the run, he expressed optimism that Nigeria would be a great country again with actions taken by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The governor spoke when he hosted Muslims at the Government House in Benin, as part of the Eid-el-Fitri celebrations, urging them to thank Allah for making Buhari president.
The Governor insisted that “Nigeria would have become a collapsed state if Jonathan had continued as president.”
In an apparent reference to Buhari’s critics, he said “the president has to be rigid to be able to find the thieves and to avoiding building on a foundation allegedly destroyed by the PDP.”
Explaining that the first step to make the needed change was to fix wrongs done in the past and cleanse the rot left behind by the PDP, Oshiomhole said past administrations failed to save, to make adequate plans for the country but looted the national treasury carelessly.
According to him, “We have to thank Allah for making it possible for Buhari to emerge. God so love Nigeria that He brought Buhari at this time.
“If Buhari had not come, we will not know why the Nigeria government failed to tackle Boko haram. They are now confessing like witches. A pastor who emerged as candidate confessed to collecting N700 million from a bank,” he stated.
