PDP Convention: Southeast PDP adopts Secondus

Just hours away from the national convention of the PDP in Abuja today, the South East caucus of the party has adopted former PDP Acting Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, as its candidate for the chairmanship of the party.

This comes as Chief Olabode George who is one of the nine contestants seeking to be elected into the position withdrew from the race yesterday citing a violation of the party’s micro-zoning principle as one of the reasons for his decision.

All the aspirants had received their certificates of clearance from the Patrick Okowa-led convention planning committee at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, after having been cleared by the Osagie Ize-Iyamu-led screening committee.

In his withdrawal speech, George demanded an apology from Secondus’s principal supporter for the party’s chairmanship, River State Governor, Nyesom Wike, for what the PDP chieftain called “his unguarded utterances on national television” and “show of shame” against the people of Yorubaland.
