The Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kenya School of Law, Prof. Patrick Lumuba, has exalted the pan African qualities of the late Afro beat king, Fela Anikulakpo-Kuti. Lumumba said that Fela’s legacy for the African continent remains endearing, and a reference point for anyone who wishes to know the good side of Africa.
Prof Lumumba was speaking at the Fela Debates, season 9, which ushers in the yearly Felabration concerts. The concerts have been for over 18 years.
In his lecture as the special guest speaker, titled “40 Years After FESTAC, 20 Years After Fela, Wither the Pan-African Dream”, the Associate Professor of Public Law, Kabarak University School of Law, reminded all and sundry that Pan Africanism is still alive in various activities involving Africans, and called for its sustenance.
The well attended debate had on its panel Prof. Lumumba, Mr. Femi Falana, The Guardian Editor, Abraham Ogbodo andFela’s daughter, Yeni Kuti.
The occasion also witness the unveiling of the winners of the Felabration Arts Competition which kicked off on April 1, 2017.
