Ethan & Harriet (‘E&H’), Nigeria’s pioneer educational toy provider, championing the preservation of the country’s cultural heritage through fun and games, is set to launch its range of educational toys and Nigerian-themed puzzles at a grand event scheduled to hold on the 25th of August at the Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos. The brand aims to create awareness and reinforce Nigeria’s history, through one game at a time.
This event, which is strictly by invitation, will have in attendance Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, as the Special Guest of Honour. Also in attendance will be Former Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Donald Duke, who will function as the Chief Reviewer while the Chairperson, Association of Private Educators in Nigeria (APEN), Dr. Olufemi Ogunsanya will be the keynote Speaker amongst other dignitaries.
Speaking on the uniqueness of the brand, the Founder of the company, Bunmi Williams, said: “Our flagship products are the Nigerian-themed jigsaw puzzles, and the strength of these puzzles is that it further enhances the profile of Nigeria on the world stage in a fun and creative way. It is a powerful tool for children and adults. It allows Nigerians, both home and in Diaspora, play a game that teaches about their history and values, which other games currently may not address.
“This event which will serve as part of a line-up of activities marking the company’s operations within the Nigerian market will also have its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative ‘Ethan & Harriet Pals’ unveiled. Through this project, Ethan & Harriet Company intends to provide students with improved educational facilities, which will help stimulate their interest in learning and keep them in school.”
A survey carried out by the group found that 82 per cent of Nigerian children have limited knowledge of their country’s history and culture.
Ethan & Harriet range of educational toys is set to build a sense of national pride among children in conjunction of the Federal Government’s aim of transforming the educational sector with modern learning facilities through partnerships with private organizations and stakeholders.
Raising expectations for the event, Williams added: “Ethan and Harriet is excited to be making this entry to the Nigerian market at a time where our children need to be taught proactively about their history. By officially unveiling our flagship products, we are bringing to light the importance of Ethan & Harriet’s heritage value proposition and highlighting its benefits pertaining to education, youth development and tourism.”
She stressed that the company aims at reconnecting the disconnection between Nigerian children and their African heritage as well as bridge the gap, noting that the knowledge of one’s history is key to having strong personal identity.
The prestigious event will be presented by two lovely radio voices and television faces, Chioma Omeruah- Chigul and Layole Oyatogun while Amira Ibrahim-Alfa and Derele Edun are poised to create all the fun as hosts on the Red Carpet.
