The Lagos State government has denied the news making the rounds that the state governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, in company of other All Progressives Congress (APC) governors are in Edo State for reasons not disclosed.
Speaking on a live television programme, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, said the governor is ‘abroad’ and not in Edo State as claimed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Mr. Ayorinde said: “Right now Mr. Ambode is abroad attending a meeting. I will tell him to call you once he is out of the meeting… Iyamu should concentrate on the imminent loss he is facing.”
Elections for the governorship seat of Edo State is ongoing, and the contest is majorly between the APC and PDP flag bearers; Mr. Godwin Obaseki and Pastor Iyamu respectively.
