By Adeoluwa Atayero
It looked like business as usual at the High Court at Ikeja, Lagos this morning; people hustling and bustling around the busy court scene, police officers carrying out their routine security checks and lawyers gliding across the sacred halls of the court.

All these movements are actions that you would see any day at the court. However, today was not your regular day at the court. In fact, there won’t be a regular day at the court for a while as the High Court, Ikeja is preparing to go on a two month vacation period.
The vacation will commence on July 18, however, the court rooms are already scanty as latent signs reveal that some sort of change is in the air. The Chief Judge Of Lagos State, Honourable Justice O.O. Atilade , stated that the vacation will come to an end on Tuesday, September 13 2016. The vacation judges for the Ikeja division are:
HON. JUSTICE. O.A IPAYE from Monday 18th day of July, 2016 to Friday the 29th day of July, 2016. II. HON. JUSTICE. A.J BASHUA from Monday the 1st day of August, 2016 to Friday the 12th day of August, 2016 III. HON. JUSTICE M.A. DADA‎ from Monday 15th day of August 2016 to Friday 26th day of August, 2016. IV. HON. JUSTICE M.O EMEYA from Monday 29th day of August 2016 to Tuesday the 13th day of September, 2016. V. HON. JUSTICE K.O. DAWODU- Substitute.
It should be noted that regardless the long vacation, the criminal division of the High Court of Lagos State may sit during the period of the vacation, where a judge of a criminal division is on vacation. Hence, the assignment of vacation judge to deal with all urgent pending criminal cases in the court.

The 2016 /20170 session commences on Wednesday, 14 September 2016. The new legal year service will hold on Monday the 26th day of September, 2016
