GoFundMe appeal has been set up to cater for the family of the slain policeman, Sergeant Chukwudi Iboko.
The appeal was setup by social media activists led by Kayode Ogundamisi on Sunday.
“This fund is set up to help the widow and seven surviving children of Sergeant Chukwudi Iboko, a brave Nigerian policeman who fought valiantly against a gang of armed robbers that invaded a bank in Owerri, South East Nigeria in February 2017,” a brief introduction on the crowdfunding social media network reads.
The appeal fund targets raising the sum of $15,000 for the deceased’s family.
“Your donations will be used to pay off his family’s accumulated rent, children’s school fees and other expenses,” reads another part of the introduction.
Nigerians and the general public are urged to also share the page widely, apart from donating generously.
Sergeant Iboko died after succumbing to the injuries he sustained when he engaged in a shootout with some robbers who trailed a car into the Zenith Bank’s branch on Wetheral Road, Imo State.
The robbers had snatched a heavy polythene bag from the car, but they also suffered the loss of a gang member to the robbery.
