Ibrahim Idris Confirmed Substantive IGP

The hitherto Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, is now the substantive Inspector General of Police. This is following his confirmation as substantive Inspector General of Police, IGP, by the Council of State, on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at the State House, in Abuja during President Muhammadu Buhari’s second Council of State meeting. The first meeting was held on October 21, 2015.
IGP Idris’ confirmation came barely three months after President Buhari elevated him from an Assistant Inspector General of Police, to the Acting IGP, on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, following the retirement of his predecessor, IGP Solomon Arase, from service.
