How convenient: One week to elections and Rivers INEC office set ablaze


The office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State was in the early hours of Friday reportedly set ablaze by unknown persons, barely seven to the July 30 rerun election in the state.

Bori, which is the ancestral headquarters of the Ogoni people, is key to the rerun election for Rivers East senatorial district scheduled for next Saturday.

An Ogoni and a political activist, Kennedy Friday reported the fire incident via a Facebook post that reads, “I have just received news this morning that the INEC office in Bori is on fire. The whole building is set ablaze”.
