Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has challenged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer, Ize-Iyamu, to take a stroll around the Benin City centre with the former PDP governor of the state, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, just as he (Oshiomhole) would do same with the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship standard bearer, Godwin Obaseki and gauge the reaction of the people.
Oshiomhole threw this challenge while speaking with airport correspondents at the Benin Airport on Saturday afternoon.
The Governor, who had earlier at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, in the city centre, introduced the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship flagbearer, Godwin Obaseki, to the mammoth party loyalists, asserted that he was elated in having the candidate as his preferred successor.
He said that his choice of Obaseki was based on his trust in his economic acumen and the fact that he (Obaseki) has understudied him sufficiently enough to know how to go about governing the affairs of state.
Comrade Oshiomhole accused the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of gross mismanagement of the state’s resources during the 10- year period it occupied the state government house.
Going further, he averred that records are available showing how the PDP looted the treasury through over inflating of contracts sum and in some instances outright abandonment of projects despite collecting the contract sum in full payment in advance.
The Governor said that the people of the state were in a good position to pass judgement on the level of achievements of his administration in comparison to that of the PDP while it lasted.
