Nigerian celebrities have always been role models to younger ones and their followers as regards the various professions they engage, which include music, comedy, movies and many more.
Apart from their professional products, their life styles constantly set a route for their fans to emulate, but in many instances, these revered role models have become jail birds.
Recently, one of Nigerian singers, Dammy Krane, became a resident of a cell room in a United States’ prison. Krane was arrested in the United States over alleged theft of credit cards and a car.
Krane is not the only one, several Nigerian celebrities have at one time or another been a guest behind prison bars or have had a run against the law. Below are some of them:
The Ligali crooner whose real name is Oyindamola Johnson Emmanuel popularly known as Dammy Krane was recently arrested in Florida for charges of theft, credit card scam and fraud. The news was received with shock and disbelief as many of his fans were insisting that it was a publicity stunt for his next single.
Babalola Falemi (Sinzu)
Nigerian rapper, Sinzu, formerly known as Sauce kid, who is reputed for the hit track, Watcanfais on recorded to have had issues with the law on three different occasions. On which occasion, the charges had been related to theft.
The popular artist, whose real name is Raoul John Njeng Njeng, and better known with Shake Body, along side his manager, Osagie was dragged to the police by his record label, Baseline music.
They were arrested on allegation of financial crime and mismanagement by the music company.
Popular Nollywood actor, Uche Odoputa, was privileged to spend eight months of his life behind bars when he was so sentenced after being caught at the Murtala Mohammed Airport with substances suspected to be cocaine. Odoputa has featured in a good number of block buster movies including Last Flight to Abuja.
Veteran actor and frontline comedian, Babatunde Omidina, populary known as Babasuwe was once arrested at Muritala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos by NDLEA official for drugs trafficking. He was admitted in a hospital, obviously to excrete the samples, but he failed to excrete any drugs. Babasue is know to dished out comedy after comedy in various movies he has featured in among which is the popular Yoruba flick, Perosoko.
Former Five Star Music crew, and Reggae Blues crooner, Harrysong, was once arrested and held behind bars by the police for charges bordering on fraud and breach of contract between him and his record label.
The Nigerian music singer known for the track, Double Wahala, Orishe Femi, has also been a guest behind bars for beating up one of the bouncers at Quilox night club.
