There was chaos at the Magistrate Court in Ikeja on Monday, August 22 2016 when a defendant allegedly convulsed and fainted in court n the present of her mother and sister, who wereco-defendants.
The case, Cop vs. Omowunmi Oke, Damilola Oke and Tolulope Kofewola, originated from an incident which took place on July 29, 2016 at about 9:00pm on 44 Aworowo road. The mother, Tolulope, and her two daughters were brought to the court on a two count charge of unlawful assault of their neighbour, Chidinma, and noise making. After the defendants had been arraigned, they tried to meet up with the bail.
In the process of the application, one of the defendants, Damilola, fainted and thereafter, began to convulse. Despite her mother’s numerous pleas, the defendant was not allowed to leave the court premises. About 15 minutes later, an emergency surety, arrived at the court and about four thousand naira was paid to the court for the bail. After the aforementioned demands were met, the girl was allowed to go to the clinic.
