In a bid to pay tribute to excellence and steadfastness, the Centre for Policy Development and Political Studies (CEPODEPS) is set to honour the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Courteville Business Solutions, Mr. Bola Akindele, with the prestigious Lagos State Man of the Year Award (LASMAYA) 2017.
The award, which is in its seventh edition, will be presented to the illustrious winner at the Eko FM Multi-purpose Hall, Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja on Sunday, September 24, 2017.
According to a press statement by the organisers of the Award, Centre for Policy Development and Political Studies (CEPODEPS), Mr. Akindele’s award is as a result of his ‘ability to make positive changes to the society’, and as a result, there is need to tell him “Thank you, well done, and keep up the good work.”
The statement noted that human beings need to be appreciated, and that is what a platform like LASMAYA is all about.
The accomplished Chartered Accountant and seasoned entrepreneur merited his award through a public vote by Lagos residents and the general public conducted via SMS, pooling a total of 3, 324 votes between Monday 14 and Sunday 20, August, 2017.
Mr. Akindele, a holder of B.Agric in Animal Science from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), and M.Sc. in Banking and Finance from the University of Lagos, has over three decades of professional experience spanning audit, banking, business development, and information technology.
His leadership prowess has set him apart among peers, creating spacious rooms for innovations and expansion, including leading Courteville to its first public offering and listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, setting a record as the first business process outsourcing and e-business solutions development company to go public in Nigeria. He is known for many firsts.
Mr. Akindele is a well of achievement and experience as he is presently the only African on the Advisory Board of the Enterprise and Parliamentary Dialogue International (EPDI), a UK-registered independent, not-for-profit body set up to establish a bridge of understanding between parliamentarians and enterprises.
Akindele launched into private practice in 2004, after almost twenty years of successfully handling increasing responsibilities in different organizations. His vision to set up a company that would make its mark for innovation, service, and create value of its franchise was actualised with Courteville Investment Limited. The company underwent a name change to Courteville Business Solutions Plc in 2011.
He is well versed, and deservedly the appropriate Lagos State Man of the Year for 2017.
In 2014, Akindele was awarded an Honorary Fellowship in recognition of his pioneering leadership role in online learning in Africa by Ravensbourne, a university sector institution in the United Kingdom that provides vocational training in the field of digital media and design.
He is also a part of world class forums among which are the World Business Forum, Africa CEO Forum and the Commonwealth Business Forum. His other professional affiliations include memberships of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and Institute of Directors (IoD).
The resourceful entrepreneur, who is married with children, and holds the traditional title of Otunba Bobaselu of Ejirin Land, has won not a few awards, which include the most recent; the Nigeria Union Of Journalist Merit Award As Most Resourceful Person.
Born on November 23, 1963 in Ibadan, Akindele is recognized as one of the “21 Nigerian tech CEOs at the top of their game” by the African Business Central magazine.
