Former Secretary of State, former Senator, former First Lady, wife, mother and grandmother, Hillary Rodham Clinton has today been officially nominated as the Democratic Party candidate of the United States of America.
Her nomination is historic because it makes her the first woman in US history to get the nomination of a major political party.
Clinton clinched the magic 2383 voted threshold when delegates from North Dakota cast their votes but at the end of the day, Clinton clinched a whopping 23842 votes to beat her closest opponent, Bernie Sanders who got 1865.
In a show of party unity her nomination was announced by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders who called that the procedures should be suspended and Clinton nominated by an unanimous voice votes.
There was delight in the air as the historic moment dawned all of those delegates in at the Convention Centre in Philadelphia.
