A three-year-old boy, Richard Adeniyi, has been diagnosed of a hole in the heart, medically referred to as Symptomatic Congenital Heart Disease.

According to the Consultant Paediatrician handling his case, Dr. O. J. Sokunbi of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, the toddler is a known patient of paediatric cardiology of the above named hospital.

“Richard will require further cardiovascular evaluation and possible open heart surgery to correct his heart defects in order to forestall irreversible and life threatening complications,” the doctor said.

Explaining how Richard’s case was discovered, and the way forward, Mr. Tunji Adeniyi, the father of the patient said his case came to the fore about a month ago when it was discovered that Richard was always getting tired, and panting.

“We had to take him to the hospital, and were confronted with the sad news that he has a hole in the heart,” he said.

He further revealed that contacts have been made with hospitals in Germany and Dubai including Shaikh Khalifa Medical City, Dubai, UAE, for the surgery, and a total of N10 million will be required.

He therefore called on well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the Adeniyi family to save the life of young Richard, who use to be full of life.
