While every man dies, only a few are remembered afterwards, and so it was for Mrs. Olufunmilayo Janet Abeni Ajibola, when family, friends and well wishers gather to remember her for her good works, 40 days after her departure. This was done with a thanksgiving Memorial Service at her home in Opebi, Lagos.
Mrs. Olufunmilayo, aged 74, passed on to glory on Wednesday June 8, 2016, and is survived by children, among whom are Mr. Demola Ajibola, Mr. Segun Ajibola, Mr. Akinmade Ajibola, Mrs. Dupe Afikuyomi, Mrs. Toyin Awosika and Mrs. Seun Ajibola. The grandchildren are include Demilade Awosika, Somidele Awosika, Tunmika Awosika, Dele Awosika, Stephen Awosika among many others.
In a tribute, Mrs. Stella Oyefeso of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, House of His Glory Parish, (church where she attended) described her as a woman ready to do all things for Christ, especially in prison evangelism.
“When mama was in her 70s, she said, I won’t be able to go for prison evangelism again, but my money will always go with you.”
In addition, “Mama’s last day in House of his Glory Parish (her church) was the day she paid her prison evangelical dues to the church accountant,” she said.
No doubt, Mrs. Funmilayo has affected several lives, as her grandson, Somidele Awosika, attested to. “She loved us, care for everyone around her; I really missed her, and I pray we will see at the feet of God,” he prayed
