Bitzer, the world’s largest independent manufacturer of refrigeration compressors, with operational base in Nigeria, has forged a fruitful partnership with the Institute for Industrial Technology, a local refrigeration and air-conditioning training center in Lagos, Nigeria.
The partnership was brokered recently when Bitzer, in its characteristic act of corporate and social responsibility sponsored one of ITT’s ECOSTAR condensing units as well as HVAC accessories and tools.
In collaboration with First Class Group Ltd (FCGL), a local Nigerian contractor, Bitzer also supported in the installation of an air-conditioning cycle for the institute.
The two organisations agreed on future collaborations, which will include the enhancement of the IIT’s refrigeration and air-conditioning curriculum as well as providing training for external HVAC industry stakeholders in the IIT’s training room with BITZER equipment.
IIT is a project of the non-profit organisation African Development Foundation, which addresses the problems of youth unemployment and poverty in Nigeria by offering technical vocational education and training to young locals.
Bitzer debuted in Nigeria in 2017 with an office in Lagos, and has established a strong presence with users in West Africa and strengthens its support for business partners and users in the region. The company is also in the process of building a service center and warehouse in Lagos.
The company is represented across the globe through distribution companies and production facilities for reciprocating, screw and scroll compressors, heat exchangers and pressure vessels.
