As a result of the dilapidated state of the Lagos/Badagry Expressway, residents have concluded plans to shut down the route to force government or whoever is in charge to speed up work on the site and complete it.
The action is proposed to take place on Tuesday October 30 and Wednesday October 31.
On the said days, according to statement circulated via the social media, all residents are expected to assemble at designated bus stops and locations, to form a barricade against the movement of automobile of any kind.
The circular, which has a screaming headline thus Mass Action… for the repair of Badagry Express road, enjoined residents including youths, market men and women, civil servants and many more to come out enmasse to ensure the success of the mass mobilisation activity.
It further stipulated that Badagry Roundabout, Aradagun, Muwo, Oko Afo. Magbo and Agabara junctions will form mobilisation points. Others are ACOED Roundabout, Iyana-Era, Isashi, Okokomaiko, LASU, Iyana-Iba, Volks, Agric, ASPAMDA and many other junctions along the route up to Mile 2.
Speaking to The Boss, residents of the area said they were ready for the act citing the total ‘suffering’ being encountered on a daily basis.
A chieftain of one of the Community Development Associations along the route told The Boss that the exercise is a welcome development as ‘the government has failed us’.
It would be recalled that the Badagry road is currently under dualisation process to accommodate a rail line, BRT lane and many more.
The project which was awarded many years ago has remained comatose with many parts completed dug up without attendant attention, leading to unbearable traffic gridlocks as well as avoidable accidents.
