A former Minister of Solid Minerals, Mr. John Kayode Fayemi, has been sworn in as the governor of Ekiti State for a second term in office.
Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated the former deputy governor of the state, Mr. Kolapo Ishola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the July 14 governorship election held in the state.
Recall that Fayemi, in 2014 lost to the immediate past governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, when he attempted to go for a second term.
Fayemi’s tenure is expected to last four years, and he will not enjoy the luxury of re-contesting.
